On Monday, May 7 2012 at the 2012 PLM World Conference in Las Vegas, Siemens PLM Software Senior VP and GM of Mainstream Engineering Software, Karsten Newberry, brought along an iPad. The iPad was loaded with a pre-release version of the Solid Edge Viewer for iPad. This is a free app that's set for release in the Apple Store this June.
The Solid Edge Viewer for iPad debut will correspond with the upcoming release of Solid Edge ST5. The app will be able to inspect 3D CAD design files created in Solid Edge. Along with this feature, the app will display manufacturing information (dimensions, materials, and suppliers). The demo did not include annotation tools or a structure viewer, but these features could be expected as the app continues to develop.
The official launch of ST5 will be at Solid Edge University on June 11-13, 2012 in Nashville, TN at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Conference Center.
From now until June 15th, 2012 - any new license purchase of Solid Edge© Software from Ally PLM will come with a free iPad in support of this new mobile application!
