Here is something helpful so you can reserve a certain license (could be an NX bundle or a Solid Edge Premium license) for a person or a group.  The Flex LM options file that we create from a text file and place in the same directory as the license file is just for this purpose.

Solid Edge - Features of ST7

Attention all Solid Edge customers! Starting with Solid Edge ST7, all software will be 64 bit only. If you have plans to upgrade please make sure that all your machines are compatible with the software.

Also, new with ST7, Keyshot rendering software is now installed with Solid Edge and replaces the ST6 Advanced Rendering. This is a part of the software and does not cost any additional money.

Solid Edge ST7 also supports running on the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet. In addition to being supported on the Windows 8.1 operating system, Solid Edge has built in capability that allows zooming with finger gestures as well as selection with stylus gestures. This is supported in both 2D and 3D environments.

If you load ST7 on a machine with Windows 8.1, you will have access to a new "Print using Microsoft 3D Builder" command on the application menu. This is available in the part, sheet metal, or assembly environments. To be able to use this command you must have the Microsoft 3D Builder application installed which can be found at the link below:

Solid Edge - Change Part Intersection

Recently, I have seen issues with customers that struggle to get intersecting parts to display correctly in drafts. These parts are displayed as hidden lines or not even appearing at all. Solid Edge has an option for intersecting parts and it is defaulted to not process intersections.

To change this globally, go to:
  • Solid Edge Options > Edge Display > Advanced button > check Process intersections and select an option. Notice in the Global options "Create all face intersections (slowest)" is ghosted out. This is to help with performance so all views are not processed this way if they are not needed:

To change this specific to a certain view:
  • Right click on View > Properties > Advanced > check Process intersections and select the option Create all face intersections (slowest):

How to See What is Checked Out to You in Solid Edge Insight

I often have people ask the best way to know if you have things checked out to you.  If there is an issue with a file (FOP issues are common for this) or a crash, then the file might not get checked back in correctly and uploaded to the server.  You should check each week or so to see if things are checked out and get them checked back in.

Click HERE to go to our knowledge base and see two ways to easily check to see if you or others have something still checked out to you.

If you have any issues, contact techsupport@allyplm.com.
